Timothy Garton Ash is Professor of European Studies at Oxford University, where he leads the 13 languagefreespeechdebate.com project, and a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. His latest book is Free Speech: Ten Principles for a Connected World. He contributes regularly to the Guardian, the New York Review of Books and other publications. He is the recipient of this year’s International Charlemagne Prize.
