AI and machine learning are not only about marketing and personalisation. A multitude of experiments in 2017 and 2018 have shown us new processes and workflows that allow journalists to be more than just a data desk in the middle of a newsroom. What does it mean to do data-centred reporting or to focus on the societal effects of technology? How can we improve investigative journalism, but also day-to-day journalism with new methods and new mindsets?
